Architect Rider Summary
The Architect Rider is an optional living benefit rider (for an additional fee) available for purchase on variable annuities offered through Monumental Life Insurance Company or Transamerica Financial Life Insurance Company. The Architect Rider allows you to select your own investment options, within limits, and provides guaranteed payments for life under the rider, regardless of market performance. Please see the Architect Rider Brochure for other important Rider information.
- Issue age to 90 years old (85 in NY and OK).
- Available on the Advisor's Edge, Advisor's Edge NY, Advisor's Edge Select, and Advisor's Edge Select featuring Symmetry Partners.
- Ability to select your own investment options, within limits. The rider must be issued with a maximum equity percentage of 50%, 60% or 70%. Policies with this rider must be set up with monthly automatic asset rebalancing.
- Rider can be structured to cover guaranteed withdrawals over single or joint lives. If the joint life option is chosen, the withdrawal percentage will be based on the age of the younger of the annuitant or the annuitant's spouse at the time of the first withdrawal and the fee will be higher than for single life. If the joint life option is chosen, the joint life must be your spouse and must be either named as joint owner or the sole primary beneficiary on the policy.
- The withdrawal percentage is based on the age when withdrawals are first made and may not change once withdrawals have started unless the rider is upgraded. Withdrawals are based on a percentage of the Total Withdrawal Base (TWB).

- Rider Fees deducted annually as a percentage of the total withdrawal base on each rider anniversay (pro-rated at rider termination).
- Additions to the contract automatically increase the Total Withdrawal Base.
- Withdrawals in excess of the maximum annual amount will result in a decrease in the dollar amount of withdrawals available under the rider. Withdrawals accoding to the rider will cease in the event that a withdrawal in excess of the maximum annual amount decreases the Total Withdrawal Base to zero.
Important Information: The Total Withdrawal Base (TWB) is equal to the policy value when the rider is added, plus any additional premiums, and less any adjustments for excess withdrawals after the rider is added. You must wait until the calendar year after you turn 59 to begin withdrawals. If the rider is purchased prior to age 59, however, the rider fee will still apply. Rider withdrawals reduce the policy value, death benefits, and other annuity values. Since the withdrawals are based on the calendar year, the maximum annual withdrawal amount for the first year will be pro-rated if the rider is added after January 1st.
